What is CBT software?
CBT software is a program that delivers exams on computers instead of paper. Teachers type in or upload the questions, students sign in and answer on screen, and the software marks the objective questions straight away and prepares the results.
Schools use it for terminal exams, tests and mock exams, and to give students practice with computer-based testing before national exams such as the JAMB UTME. Chuvor CBT is made by Chuvor International and is not connected to any examination body.
A buying checklist for schools
Before you choose CBT software, check each of these. A program that fails the first two will cause problems on exam day.
- Works without internet. Exams should not stop because a network link or data bundle fails.
- Runs on computers you already have. Students should only need a web browser.
- Fair exams. Questions and answer options should be shuffled for each student.
- Easy question setting. Typing questions one at a time is slow. Look for Word, Excel or CSV upload.
- Objective and theory questions, with a proper place to mark essays.
- Live control. Invigilators should see every student's progress and any cheating alert while the exam runs.
- Clear reports. Ranking lists, class summaries and results you can export.
- A licence you understand, a clear price, and real support when something goes wrong.
How Chuvor CBT works
Chuvor CBT installs on one server computer in your school. Students use a web browser on your own computers to reach it over your school network, so exams run without internet. It supports up to 500 computers writing at the same time, so it suits a small computer room and a large exam centre alike.
Every student gets their own question order and answer order, and the correct answer always stays correct. Questions that belong to one reading passage stay together. Invigilators watch a live monitor that shows each student's status, answers so far, live score, time left and security alerts for tab switching, copying and pasting. After the exam, objective questions are already marked and you can print ranking reports with each student's photo, score and percentage.

What you need to run it
- One server computer running Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), ideally a dedicated computer with an SSD.
- Microsoft SQL Server Express, which is free. The installation guide shows how to install it.
- Your server and student computers on the same network, by cable or Wi-Fi.
- A web browser on every student computer. Tablets and phones also work.
- Memory on the server: 8 GB for up to 70 computers, 16 GB for 75 to 200 computers, and 32 GB above 200 computers.
What does it cost?
You buy a licence for the number of computers you need and for how long you need it: a week, a month or a year. The price list shows every size and period. You pay securely online with Flutterwave (card, bank transfer or USSD) and download your licence file within minutes. A copy is also sent to your email.
The licence is made for your server computer, so it cannot be copied to another school. Installation and training are included, with support by WhatsApp, phone and email.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best CBT software for schools?
The best CBT software is the one that works on your own computers without internet, shuffles questions for each student, lets you upload questions from Word or Excel, and gives you live monitoring and reports. Chuvor CBT is built for exactly this and runs on your own school network.
Can CBT software work without internet?
Yes. Chuvor CBT runs on a server computer inside your school and students reach it over your own network. Internet is only needed on the day you buy, to pay and download your licence file.
How many computers can run a CBT exam at the same time?
Chuvor CBT supports up to 500 computers writing at the same time. The bigger the hall, the more memory the server needs: 8 GB for up to 70 computers, 16 GB for 75 to 200, and 32 GB above 200.
Do students need special computers?
No. Students only need a web browser. Use the computers, laptops or tablets your school already has.
Does CBT software mark theory questions?
Objective questions are marked automatically. Theory (essay) answers are marked by your teachers in a marking workspace, and a totals sheet is prepared for every student.
